Congratulations to the following 2021 Scholarship Recipients

ENDEAVOR Scholarship
In the words of Henry David Thoreau “If one advances in the direction of his dreams and endeavors to live the life, which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” This year the student that exemplifies this goal is Alex Jimenez. Donors are Kristopher and Lark Kesterke . Ms. Kesterke is an Alumni of Coupeville High School.

Alex Jimenez will receive a $1000 toward future schooling.

Bayleaf Foreign Study/Travel Scholarship
Beth Kuchynka is the sponsor of this scholarship to encourage students to broaden their horizons with foreign study and travel. In Ms. Kuchynka’s words ”My time studying in England and the travel I did there changed my life”. 

This scholarship is being awarded to Knight Arndt and is $1000.

Cascade Custom Homes and Design Scholarship
This scholarship is being awarded to a student who is pursuing a career in business or any aspect of the construction industry. This is presented by the owners of Cascade Custom Homes and Design , Jon and Jay Roberts, who are Coupeville High school alumni.

I proudly present this scholarship for $2500 to Alex Jimenez.

Educate your Passion Scholarship
Careers that require specialized training and certification such as cosmetology, chefs, electricians, real estate agents, automotive repair, medical technicians, fitness trainers etc. are what this scholarship is about.   It is given by Jana Mannion who is also a CHS graduate.
This year the award will go to Alexis Czarnik. $1000 to educate her passion for cosmetology

Gervais Memorial Scholarship
Given in memory of their Mom, Karen Gervais, the sponsors of this scholarship are Jake Boone and his sister. Ms. Gervais was a student supporter and served on the Foundation board.

This year the Gervais scholarship is given to Alex Jimenez and is $1500.

Larry Engle Teacher Extraordinaire Scholarship
Larry Engle was a well loved and extraordinary science teacher who taught with passion. His friends Jim and Lee Anderst have given this scholarship for many years to a student pursuing a career in teaching or science.

This year the $500 scholarship recipient is Knight Arndt

Red Apple Market
Given by owner of the long time community and school supporter, Ken Hofkamp, this scholarship is awarded to someone who shows community spirit and commitment.
Molly Bailey will receive the $1000 scholarship.

Rose Hip Farm Scholarship
 From Valerie Ruether who for many years has supported Coupeville students with generous funding for advanced schooling.

Toby’s EMT - First Responder - Medical profession Scholarship
To support this vital need in communities the sponsor of this scholarship , John Rodreguey, would like this year’s recipient to be Megan Began.
Megan Behan will receive $1000 towards her education.

Salon Blue Scholarship
Naomi Welshens , the owner of Salon Blue, wanted to give back to her community by sponsoring this scholarship for any student wanting to become a cosmetologist, esthetician, barber, massage therapist. When Naomi wanted to go to beauty school years ago someone helped her with funding.
This year the $1000 scholarship will go to Alexis Czarnik.

Suzanne Bond Memorial
This year our community lost a a supporter of our students when Suzanne Bond passed. The Community Foundation would like to memorialize her by naming this scholarship for her. Suzanne will be remembered for her concern not only for high academic standards but also for her character building and social-emotional concerns of children. She instituted “the word of the Month” based on that idea.
$1000 will go to Lily Zustiak in Suzanne Bonds memory.

Rick Widdison Honorary Scholarship
This year the school Foundation board would like to honor Rick Widdison for his MANY, MANY years of service to the students of Coupeville Schools.  Rick was one of the founders of the Coupeville School Foundation in 1994. We owe him so much for his time and love of our Coupeville kids. Thanks Rick! We will miss you but commemorate this event with a scholarship in your name.
$1000 will go to Genevieve Wright
