 Adopt-A-Grant

Community - we are excited to provide another way to directly impact our children's learning experience called "Adopt a Grant."  It will allow you to directly support (partial or full) an enrichment grant for Coupeville Schools.

Each year, our teachers submit 30 - 40 detailed grant requests.  This program will allow you to direct your donations to your favorite grants and make a difference in their lives.  We have so many experiences to choose from.  Read a bit about them below and donate to make a difference.

We will ensure your generosity is followed up with a personal touch - a for you to more closely see the difference you made.  Oftentimes, we receive pictures and thank yous following the activity and we will ensure you are included.

Mr. Noste's Birdhouse Project
Grant Amount:  $150

Mr. Noste is at it again, this time looking to build birdhouses out of 1x6 fence boards that he will cut and pre-drill for all his 1st graders (4 classes)!  This project will help the students to learn to follow a plan, measure, drive nails and work together.  They also will learn about the nesting habits of birds.  Spring is coming soon, so get ready to show your support!

7th Grade Field Trip to MOHAI - Museum of History and Industry
Grant Amount:  $1500

You are making the dreams come true for the entire 7th grade WA State history class by supporting their field trip to the Museum of History and Industry (MOHAI) in Seattle.  This is a field trip that they never forget!
Ms Megan Austin and Mr Brandon Volkman plan out and make for an amazing day benefitting 80 students, 2 staff, and 12 parents/guardians.  Their objective is to deepen the student's knowledge of Washington state history to support our learning standards.  This grant makes the entire experience free for all!
The students will learn through the museum's current exhibits which include eras from 1854 - present:  Territory to now contemporary Washington state.  The students will be split into groups to complete a printed scavenger hunt of the museum during their self-guided tour.  They hold discussions with the classes following the trip and really helps them see what they have learned about.

8th Grade Overnight:  Moran State Park
Grant Amount:  $2250

Your contribution will help fund what is becoming an annual tradition for the 8th graders - certainly one of the most memorable experiences of their school days.
The goals of this field trip to Camp Moran (Moran State Park) on Orcas Island is:
  •  Build a sense of community for all 8th grade students
  • Learn about state parks and community contribution
  • Perform a work service project
  • Provide a summer camp-like experience for underprivileged students
  • Include students in both the prep and the cleaning
This amazing experience takes months of planning and includes the entire 8th grade class - approximately 75 kids.  It takes all of the energy of the 5 educational staff and over a dozen parents to make this a successful trip.  Mr. DeArmond puts it perfect "There are a limited number of experiences we can provide within the school day.  This takes their learning outside of the school and into the state parks and into the kitchen.  We focus on citizenship, community building and service.
