Tell us about yourself and what brought you to Coupeville?
I am a native Houstonian, went to school in Rolla, MO and met my wife Holley during my last semester. I started work at Shell in Deer Park, Texas and was transferred to the Puget Sound Refinery (Anacortes) in 2001. Holley and I had an epic cross country caravan with 2 horses shipped, two apartments packed and our two cats journeying out to our 1st home in Coupeville.
When and Why did you join the Coupeville Schools Foundation?
I joined the Foundation in late 2016 after discovering them in the District newsletter. When I looked for more info about them online - I knew they needed someone desperately to keep up a web presence. I maintain both the website and the facebook page if you have some suggestions!
What is your favorite thing to do in Coupeville?
I run, a lot. My favorite is to run through Ft Ebey - over the bluff, up hill road and back to main street. When I want to add some more miles I run over the bridge across highway 20 and along front street to Madrona and then home. It is perhaps the prettiest run in the world.
What is your favorite Coupeville memory?
Every year we gear up for the Mussel Festival. I take it very seriously, we buy all cards and I jot down descriptions of each one as we go store to store. Lately, we have really had some good weather that early in the year which is like icing on the cake!
Why do you love being on the Foundation for Coupeville Public Schools?
The reason I joined was because of how big a difference the elementary teachers made for my son's education. Then, the board members are all fantastic people - educators and community members who give so much to support the school! It's fun to see what the teachers come up with to improve all the student's experiences.
