Coupeville Run & Ride (and Reunite)

Introducing:  Coupeville Run & Ride (and Reunite)

Coupeville Run & Ride (and Reunite) is:
A fundraiser for Coupeville students.  All money raised supports teacher grants for educational enrichment, college sch
olarships, and financial resources for students in need to equally access activities and learning opportunities. Started in 2017, this event (formally Circumnavigate Whidbey) has raised over $100,000.

It is a chance for our community to get some exercise in the most beautiful town in the world, be together and catch up after the summer. We will stick together the entire time, it is NOT a race!  We will run (6 miles), then ride (11.5 miles), then celebrate together.

There are three ways to support this fundraising event
1.  In Spirit:  You can Fundraise or Donate without Run & Riding
2.  In Body: You can participate  without Fundraising
3.  Best of Both:  You can Fundraise and Participate!

Event Details

When
Join us on Sunday, September 5th @ 9:15 am - We will depart at 9:30 am sharp!

Where:
Meet at the Coupeville Elementary School Parking Lot
We will depart from the track

The Run:
Lace up your shoes and join us for a leisurely 10K around the prairie. Highlighted by Ebey’s Landing, the view of the prairie, the sound, and Rainier in the distance is a painter’s delight and we get to enjoy this every day!  Expect this will be about a little over an hour.

The Ride:
Don’t forget to bring your bike! We will take a short break and gather our bikes - 10 speeds, dirt bikes, e-bikes - they are all welcome. We will depart from the elementary school on a 11.5 mile ride - as a group! We head to beautiful Ebey’s landing and this time tack on a few miles past Ft Casey and the flats of Crockett Lake before returning back to school

Reunite:
I am sure you will have worked up an appetite. A casual post Run & Ride celebration is planned at Coupeville Town Park. Catch up with friends and family and hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, and water notionally planned to start around 12:15 pm (it depends on when we conclude the bike.)

You are welcome to do one or the other (ie, you can just bike) or just hang out!  Just congregate at the school parking lot.  Please do sign up for the Sept 5th event using the button below so I can get a feel for how many folks will be joining!

Fundraising to support the Community Foundation for Coupeville Public Schools

Founded in 1997, we provide an extra measure of support to Coupeville students in three major areas:
  • College Scholarships - Every year, thousands of dollars are awarded to graduating seniors.
  • Teacher Grants – In the 2020-2021 school year, the Foundation funded $45,000 of support to schools to help adjust for COVID.  Scholastic enrichment, technology (WiFi hot spots, cameras), and social-emotional tools were funded with this support.
  • Promise Fund- We provide financial resources for students in need to equally access activities and learning opportunities in our school district.

How can you help?

This is a fundraiser, not a race.  All proceeds are 100% contributed to the Coupeville Schools Foundation.  You do not need to donate to participate and you don’t have to participate if you donate!

1. Donate (and a Raffle!)
  • Donate using the Donate Button on this page.  It is good karma and the event organizer James will be eternally grateful.  If you come to the event, he will make sure you have a good time!
  • Raffle:  For every $100 you donate, you will be entered into a raffle for a 2-night stay at the Ocean Bluff Farm Guesthouse in Coupeville for 2 people. For example, if you donate $200, you would be entered two times.
  • Check out the Ocean Bluff Farm, looking over the water and Olympics.  We will announce the winner September 5th at the conclusion of the effort - on Facebook Live.  You will be contacted if you won!
2.  Share this campaign with your friends to help raise more money for Coupeville students.
3.  Follow us on Facebook

Who is Doing This?

Meet the organizers

  • James Steller, Coupeville Schools  Foundation Board Member , technology & engineering manager, and father to Grant, a Coupeville 11th grader
  • Andrew Wyman - Dentist and father of 3 Coupeville kids, Tate (11th), Ayden (9th), and Devon (7th)

Would you like to participate?  To help us get a count - please do sign up using the buttons on this page.  If you haven't signed up, don't stress, just show up at the start.

What is our goal?

1.  We get outside on our beautiful island and come together in our wonderful community
2.  We raise at least $10,000 to support the Foundation's great efforts

What happened to Circumnavigate?

The main participants are getting older!  Running, biking, and swimming over 120 miles over 2 days really wears on you.  We have raised over $100,000 in the last 4 years, and we want to keep fundraising.  My favorite part about Circumnavigate every year is, hands down, the start with all our friends and family running together.  I want to have an event that allows more participation by our community.
