Coupeville Schools Foundation Honored with Prestigious WASA Community Leadership Award
The Coupeville Schools Foundation has been recognized by the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) with the distinguished Community Leadership Award, honoring the organization’s exceptional and lasting contributions to education in the Coupeville community.
The award is presented to community members and organizations that demonstrate outstanding dedication to supporting public education and improving opportunities for students. For nearly three decades, the Coupeville Schools Foundation has exemplified that mission through unwavering commitment, strategic partnerships, and meaningful investment in student success.
Since its founding in 1997, the Community Foundation for Coupeville Public Schools has provided what it proudly calls an “Extra Measure of Support” through three guiding pillars: Legacy, Spirit, and Promise.
Through scholarship programs, the Foundation has helped graduating seniors pursue higher education opportunities and achieve their academic goals. Innovative teacher grants—averaging approximately $450 per student—have empowered educators to bring creative and impactful learning experiences directly into classrooms across the district.
In addition, the Foundation’s Promise Fund has ensured that students facing financial hardships are still able to participate fully in academic programs, extracurricular activities, and other important educational opportunities.
Most recently, the Foundation demonstrated its remarkable stewardship and community support by raising $154,376, distributing $144,704 directly back into student-focused initiatives while maintaining operating expenses under $2,000. The organization also fully funded the district’s new Where Everyone Belongs (WEB) transition program, designed to support students during critical school transitions and foster stronger peer connections.
The Foundation’s impact has not gone unnoticed locally either. Previously recognized as the Coupeville Chamber’s Non-Profit of the Year, the organization continues to set a standard for community leadership through 27 years of sustained service, partnership with the school district, and dedication to educational excellence.
This latest recognition from WASA further highlights the powerful role community organizations play in strengthening public education and supporting the next generation of students.
Congratulations to the Coupeville Schools Foundation on receiving this prestigious and well-deserved honor.
