Needy Children's Fund

The Needy Children's Fund was established early in the history of the Foundation.  The purpose of the fund is to provide financial resources for low income students so they can participate equally in school activities and learning opportunities.

About 33% of students in the Coupeville School District are eligible for free and reduced lunch, a common criteria for low income family assistance.

Here are some examples of items funded by the Fund:

  • Fees for participation in Drama
  • Emergency Clothing
  • Fees for sports
  • Instrument Rental for band
  • Healthy snack food for elementary age children who may not have had breakfast
  • Tuition for high school seniors to take the senior UW English Class

.-- The number of homeless and low income families in Coupeville has increased over the last five years.

-- There are now over 100 homeless families whose children attend school in the Coupeville School District

It is essential that our youth have access to the same opportunities as all children to succeed in school.  The Needy Children's Fund exists to provide this access.
