This grant provides funding to contract with Washington Vocational Services to administer a specially designed Job Class curriculum consisting of two sets of four-week classes to assist individuals with disabilities who are enrolled in the Coupeville School District secondary Transition and Life Skills programs.

These classes will assist students to learn and practice skills that will assist them in obtaining and maintaining employment both before and afer they complete school.  The clas facilitator uses a four-week curriculum that is educational, fun and interactive to help students to maximize the benefits of the material.

The material can be altered to fit a variety of learning levels and meet a broad range of students' needs.  THe class atmosphere provides peer support and camaraderie while learning about employment, employer expectations, and effective strategies for obtaining and keeping employment.

  • How and where to job search
  • Resources available
  • Interviewing and phone skills
  • Appropriate Social skills necessary for employment
  • What it means to be an employee
  • Employers expectations
  • Building and using a resume
