This grant partially funds a large project involving students completing a service project at Jones Island State Park in the San Juan Islands with the help of the Service Education Adventure Program.

Activities for students will include

• Trail maintenance (facilitated by park rangers)
• Career/history presentation by state park ranger
• Learn camping, group initiative and communication skills
• Creative Arts (drawing, music, and writing) and reflection activities
• Exposing students to basic route finding, sailing, navigation, and knot tying skills
• Collect and analyze weather data and physical characteristics of the ocean water at different times and locatiions
• Sample, tally, compare and examine the biological component of the ocean water
• Tour and learn about whales at the Whale Museum at Friday Harbor
